Ijtema ground without power for 2 hours
Gazipur: The power supply to Biswa Ijtema ground and neighbouring places was snapped for two hours on Friday morning due to technical difficulties.
The electricity cut off left the Ijtema venue and its neighbouring areas without power from at about 7:30am to 9:15am.
Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (Desco) control room officials said the power supply got disconnected at about 7:30am as an electric transformer blast near Tangi mill area.
Later, the electricity was restored in an alternative way after two hours of interruption.
The second phase of Biswa Ijtema, one of the biggest congregations of Muslims in the globe, began with religious sermons on Friday morning in Tongi on the outskirt of the capital.
The second phase Ijtema will conclude with Akheri Munajat on 17 January.
