Man killed in BSF firing along Lalmonirhat border
Lalmonirhat: A Bangladeshi was allegedly shot to death by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Burimari border in Patgram upazila early on Wednesday.
The deceased is Farid Uddin, 22, of Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) official said a patrol team of BSF opened fire at the cattle traders while they went to border pillar No. 843 for bringing cattle around 4:00am, leaving one dead on the spot and another injured.
The injured Akkas Ali, in his twenties, of Ufarmara village adjacent to Burimari border, was firstly taken to Patgram Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Major Mehedi Hasan, director of BGB battalion-61, said they sent a letter to BSF strongly protesting the incident.
