4 devotees die at Ijtema ground

Gazipur: Four devotees died on the Bishwa Ijtema grounds on Saturday night and early on Sunday, said elderly Tablig Jamaat member Giasuddin.
The deceased are Nurul Alam, believed to be 70, a resident of the village of Natherpetura at Monohorganj upazila in Comilla, Abdul Mabud Joardar, aged 52, a resident of Badurtala area of Chuadanga Sadar, and Abdul Quader, who was 60 years old, a resident of Char Adra village at Sharishabari in Jamalpur and Akhlakh Mia, from Sunamganj.
Nurul Alam and Abdul Mabud died on Saturday night while Abdul Quder died in the early hours of Sunday.
Akhlakh died undergoing treatment in a Dhaka hospital on Sunday morning.
The bodies were sent to their own residences after the namaz-e-janaza was held at the Ijtema ground after Fazr prayers on Sunday.
A total of six devotees including a foreigner died on the first phase of Biswa Ijtema in Tongi on the outskirts of the capital.
The second phase of Biswa Ijtema, one of the largest congregations of Muslims in the world, will conclude on Sunday with the offering of final prayer.
Eminent Islamic scholar of India Moulana Muhammad Sa’ad is likely to conduct the Munajat which will start at about 11:00am.
