Gazipur: Police recovered five time bombs abandoned at a ground at Kuniapacchar in Gazipur City Corporation in the early hours of Sunday.

The Gazipur superintendent of police (SP) Harun Aur Rashid said the bombs were recovered from the area at about 11:30am right after the Biswa Ijtema concluding prayer ended.

Harun Aur Rashid during a press briefing at a media centre in Shahid Ahsanullah Mastar Stadium police control room said the Joydebpur police recovered the time bombs in an abandoned condition with a remote control during a raid at the ground in Kuniapacchar of Gazipur City Corporation.

Later, police defused the bombs.

Primarily it is suspected that the bombs were carried to blow-out fear and violent acts at the Ijtema ground.

Miscreants left behind the bombs on the spot due to tight security measure around the Ijtema venue, claimed police.

The SP said police have been conducted search raid on the vehicle from Tangi to Jaydebpur crossing since about 4:45am on Sunday
