Narayanganj: A case has been filed in connection with the murder of five members of a family, including two children, at Baburail in Narayanganj, reports local news agency.

The Sadar police said Shafiqul Islam, husband of deceased Taslima Begum, filed the case against unidentified miscreants with Narayanganj Sadar Police on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Benazir Ahmed visited the spot at about 10:30am.

He said that they were trying to find out the culprits and the reason behind the murder along with the police.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) also collected evidence from the spot.

The bodies were sent to Narayanganj General Hospital in the morning.

Police also said that the deceased were made unconsciousness before the murder.

The five members of the family were hacked to death by unidentified miscreants at Baburail on Saturday night.

The deceased were indentified as, Taslima Begum, wife of Shafiqul Islam, a private car driver in capital Dhaka, their children Sumaiya, , Shantu, Taslima’s brother Morshedul, and Lamia, who was married to Shafiqul’s brother Sharif.

Panel mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) Haji Obaidullah told UNB that the family members were the residents of a rented house in Baburail area and confirmed Taslima’s husband’s name to be Shafikul Islam.

He is a private car driver who works in Dhaka while Sharif, brother of Shafiqul, has a business of plastic accessories.

It was Sharif who first noticed the house of Shafiqul locked.

He phoned the house inmates several times but got no response.

At one stage, he called the landlord’s nephew and entered the house by breaking the lock.

The Sadar Police said the family members were the residents of an apartment on the ground floor of a six-storey building owned by Ismail Miah at Baburail.

The miscreants might have broken into the house at some point of the night on Saturday and stabbed the family members mercilessly, leaving them dead on the spot, the OC added.

Police also detained two miscreants in connection with the incident.
