Satkhira: A local leader of Awami League was found slaughtered at Koikhali village in Assasuni upazila early Monday.

Being informed by locals, police recovered the body of Solaiman Ali Gazi, about 45 years old, general secretary of Awami League of Nolta union’s ward No. 9 unit and son of late Moksed Ali of Kaliganj upazila from the spot in the morning, said police.

Ayesha Khatun, wife of the deceased, alleged said rivals have slaughtered her husband to death and dumped the body here over a land dispute.

The body was taken to Assasuni Police Station, said OC Shahidul Islam Shahin, adding that investigation is going on to find out motive behind the killing.
