Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route resume

Manikganj: Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed this morning after six hours of disruption caused by dense fog.

Salah Uddin, manager of BIWTC’ at Aricha station, said they kept suspended ferry services on the route from 3:00am to 9:00am due to blurred visibility caused by dense fog.

Earlier, the ferry services on the route were suspended around 3:00am as thick fog enveloped the area.

The obstacle remained five ferries stranded at Paturia while six at Daulatdia ghats due to poor visibility caused by the fog.

About seven hundred vehicles, including buses, trucks and cars, remained stranded along with several hundred passengers in the mid-river and on both ends of this important route, he said.

Besides, ferry services on the Shimulia-Kathalbari route in the Padma River had remained disrupted for three and an half hours since 5:00am due to thick fog.

Khandaker Khaled, Assistant General Manager (AGM) of BIWTC at Shimulia, said for ferry service disruption, some 150 vehicles remained waiting at Kathalbari ghat and 250 more vehicles at Shimulia sides of the river for crossing.

Meanwhile, ferry services on the Ibrahim-Harinaghat route in the Padma River had remained disrupted for five hours since 3:00am due to thick fog.

Some 200 vehicles remained waiting at ghat area to cross the river, said Abdus Sattar, manager of BIWTC at Ibrahimpur terminal.
