Juba Dal leader shot dead in Ctg

Chittagong: A local leader of Juba Dal, youth wing of the BNP, was shot dead by miscreants in Kadamtali Shuvopur area under Sadar Ghat Police Station of the port city on Sunday evening.

The deceased is Harun Chowdhury, about 36 years old, a joint convener of Sadar Ghat Thana unit of Jubo Dal, son of Alamgir Chowdhury of Kadamtali.

Harun, nephew of Dastagir Chowdhury, former general secretary of city unit of BNP, was also running transport business in the area.

Md Jahangir Alam, assistant commissioner (AC) of Kotwali zone of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), said some miscreants swooped on Harun in front of his office around 6:00 pm and shot him randomly, leaving him critically injured.

Later, locals rushed him to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CHCH) where he succumbed to his injuries around 6:30 pm, the AC added.

Quoting doctor, CMCH police outpost sub-inspector Jahirul Haque said three bullet injury marks were found on the chest of Harun.
