Comilla: A Comilla court on Thursday sentenced three men to life term imprisonment and one to six-month imprisonment for killing farmer Abdul Mamin at Muradnagar in Comilla.

Comilla Additional Session Judge’s Court 4 Judge Nurunnahar Begum Shiuly pronounced the verdict on Thursday.

The life term imprisonment convicts were— Rafiqul Islam, Kawser Miah and Jakir Hossain. Kawser Miah has been absconding since the murder.

On the other hand, the judge sentenced six-month imprisonment to Khalil Miah and acquitted Lipi Akter and Nurjahan of the case.

Defense lawyer Mafizur Rahman said neighbours killed Abdul Mamin in connection with collecting money after selling two percent of land at Kodalkata in Muragnagar, Comilla on 4 June 2002.

Mamin’s father Kalu Miah on the day filed a murder case with Muradnagar Police Station against his neighbours Kawser Miah as prime accused and Rafiqul Islam, Jakir Hossain, Khalil Miah, Lipi Akter and Nurjahan as associates for killing his son.
