Ashraf breaks hunger strike after assurance on DUCSU polls
Dhaka: A Dhaka University student, who went on hunger strike two weeks ago demanding election to DUCSU (Dhaka University Central Student’s Union) by December 16, ended it on Saturday upon assurance of the university authorities that the election will be arranged soon.
Walid Ashraf, an evening masters’ student of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research, went on hunger strike on November 25 in front of the house of the DU Vice-Chancellor.
DU VC along with the proctor and Maksud Kamal, general secretary of Dhaka University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) visited Walid in the morning, said DU proctor Golam Rabbani.
He ended the strike when Vice Chancellor M Akhtaruzzaman assured him of taking steps for arranging the polls soon, he said.
