Comilla: Police recovered throat-slit body of a teenage girl from a water body at Kandagaon village of Meghna upazila in Comilla on Thursday evening.
The deceased is Monika Akhter, 16, daughter of Md Halim Mia, a resident of the village.
Police and local sources said Monika got married at Nolchar village in the upazila about three years ago and divorced within one and a half years after the marriage.
She had remained missing since Wednesday night.
On Thursday, locals spotted her body lying and informed police.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
Meghna police officer-in-charge Md Kamruzzaman Sikdar said a scarf was stuffed in the mouth of the victim.
‘We primarily suspect that Monika was slaughtered after strangulation,’ the OC added.
