Madrasa teacher held for praying for Bangabandhu’s killers
Police detained a madrasa teacher from Gopalpur upazila of Tangail headquarters on Saturday morning for seeking salvation of departed soul of the killers of Banghabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The arrestee teacher was identified as Dr. Faizul Amir Sarker, principal of Gopalpur Kamil Madrasa, hailing from Muradnagar upazila in Comilla district, reports the UNB.
Witnesses said that Gopalpur upazila administration arranged a special prayer programme in Upazila Freedom Fighters’ office around 8am for seeking salvation of the departed soul of freedom fighters who laid their lives for the country.
Faizul conducted a munajat in the programme where he sought salvation of the departed soul who were hanged in connection with killing of Banghabandhu in the presence of upazila chairman Yunus Islam Talukder, upazila nirbahi officer Dilruba Sharmin and others, Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Gopalpur Police Station said.
Immediately after the incident, police detained Faizul and started a process of case against him, added the OC.
