Two killed in clash over cutting paddy in Bagherhat
Bagherhat: Two people were killed in a fierce clash between two groups of villagers over harvesting paddy in a disputed land at Morolganj upazila in Bagherhat on Friday morning.
At least 10 people were injured during the clash which took place at the village of Sonakhali at about 10:00am, said the Morolganj police Officer-in-charge (OC) Rashedul Alam.
The deceased are Palash and Ibrahim, both were in their thirties.
Quoting local people the OC said two groups had a dispute over the land for a long time. As a group went to harvest paddy, another stopped them, which triggered a clash between the groups.
Palash and Ibrahim were killed by using locally-made weapons.
However, the injured were taken to Morolganj Upazila Health Complex.
