Sylhet: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against four people, including former mayor of Golapganj municipality in Sylhet Zakaria Ahmad Paplu, for embezzling Tk 13, 55, 196.

Three other accused are municipality executive engineer Yogesh Chatterjee, office assistant Sabbir Ahmed and stenographer Jahirul Islam.

Assistant Director of ACC Sylhet office Subrata Mandal filed the case on Thursday with Golapganj Police Station, said officer-in-charge AKM Fazlul Haque Shibli on Saturday night.

According to the case statement, the former mayor in collusion with the other officials of his office embezzled a total of Tk 13, 55, 196 in the name of fake projects in the municipality area.
