Dhaka under tight security ahead of Christmas: DMP

Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has geared up security measures in the capital on the eve of the Christmas Day.
As part of the security measures, DMP has increased the number of check posts in different city streets besides ensuring strict vigilance by the members of the law-enforcement agencies.
DMP Commissioner M Asaduzzaman Mia informed it at a coordination meeting related to security and traffic affairs in the city held at DMP headquarters here recently, reports the BSS.
‘It is our duty to provide security to the people of all beliefs ...all sorts of security measures would be taken for smooth celebration of the Christmas,’ said the DMP Chief.
The law-enforcement agencies will make block-raids, set up check-posts and keep strict vigilance on big installations, including the city hotels, he said.
Uninterrupted electricity supply would be ensured in the church areas, he said, adding that no hawkers would be allowed in the church areas.
Members of the Police force would be deployed at important places across the capital, he added.
