Rajshahi: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested four members of banned Islamist outfit Ansar Al Islam from Jamira and Bhoruapara areas in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi on Monday night.

The arrested were identified as Hayatullah Rubel alias Masud, Abdur Rahim, Mizanur Rahman and Mukul Hossain.

On secret information of some militants gathering at a banana orchard of Borjahan of Jamira village for carrying out subversive activities a Rab team conducted a drive in the area around 11:30pm and arrested Masud, Rahim and Mizanur with five Jihadi books in their possession, said Lt Col Mahabub Alam, RAB-5 commanding officer.

Gleaning information from them the elite force conducted another drive at Bhoruapara village and arrested Mukul along with two Jihadi books, the CO added.
