Facebook to respond govt pleas within 48 hrs
Dhaka: The popular social networking site Facebook will not open any ‘admin panel’ in Bangladesh and the authority assured they will respond to any complaint by the Bangladesh government within 48 hours.
State minister for Post and Telecommunication Division Tarana Halim on Sunday shared the information with journalists at a press briefing on her recent visit to Singapore where she met with the social networking website officials.
‘We proposed the Facebook authority to open admin panel in Bangladesh, but the authority refused to do so. Through the admin panel, the Facebook authority administer only salaries and other affairs of its officials. They don’t filter any content by the admin panel,' Tarana said in the press briefing at her office in Bangladesh Secretariat.
The state minister said, ‘In the meeting, the Facebook officials have assured us of taking into account any complaint that it may receive from the government of Bangladesh.’
The state minister however did not reveal any detail about the measures to be taken by the Facebook upon receiving specific complaint against a user from the Bangladesh government.
Earlier on 30 November, Tarana Halim wrote to the Facebook authority to sign a deal with the government and Facebook also replied immediately after the letter was sent.
