Rape of 4 women during Ctg robbery: Mastermind held

Chittagong: Members of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) on Wednesday night arrested the mastermind of the incident where four women of a family were raped during a burglary in Karnaphuli area of the port city on December 12.
The arrestee was identified as Abdul Hannan alias Hannan Member, hailing from Karnaphuli.
Following the statement of Abu Sama, one of the prime accused in the case, PBI arrested Hannan from in front of the Kotwali Police Station around 8pm tracking his mobile phone, said Additional Police Super of Kotwali Police Station Md Naim Uddin.
Earlier, Sama made his deposition before a court here naming Hannan as the mastermind of the robbery.
According to Sama, Hannan managed five people for committing the robbery but he was absent during the burglary.
Sama also told the court that he received Tk 21,000 as his share from the sale of looted goods, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (prosecution) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Nirmalendu Bikash Chakraborty.
Earlier on Tuesday, members of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested Abu Sama and Mizan Mattabar for their involvement in the case.
On December 12, a gang of robbers allegedly raped the four women after committing burglary in a house at Karnaphuli.
The robbers took away 11 tolas of gold, valuables and five mobile phone sets before leaving the house. No male members of the family were present during the incident.
The four victims were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital the following day for medical test.
