Narayanganj: A suspected robber leader was killed in a gunfight with detectives in Kanchan bridge area on Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj early Thursday.

The deceased is Sharif, accused in 15 cases including robbery with different police stations.

On secret information that a gang of robber was taking preparation for committing robbery, a team of detective branch of police conducted a drive in the area around 4:30am, said officer-in-charge of DB Mahbubur Rahman.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on them, forcing them to retaliate, triggering the gunfight.

After half an hour gunfight, the law enforcers recovered the robber’s bullet-hit body.

The DB team also arrested two members of the gang along with a pistol.
