BD man shot dead by BSF in Lalmonirhat border
Lalmonirhat: A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by the members of Border Security Force (BSF) of India along Daikhawa border in Hatibandha upazila here early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Shafikul Islam, about 22 years old, a cattle trader and son of Jainal Abedin hailing from Amjhol village of the upazila.
BSF members of 100-Paglibari camp opened fire on a group of cattle traders when they went to bring cows through the border around 4am, leaving Shafikul dead on the spot, Lt Col Golam Morshed, director of BGB Battalion Lalmonirhat-15.
The BSF members took away the body, said Gotamari UP chairman Abul Kashem Sabu.
BGB sent a letter to BSF to return the body.
