Manikganj: Ferry services on Daulatdia-Paturia route have remained halted since Sunday midnight due to blurred visibility caused by thick fog.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) manager at Aricha station Nasir Mohammad Chowdhury said the ferry services had been kept suspended on the route after midnight due to dense fog.

During the time, four ferries remained stranded in the mid-Padma.

Following suspension of ferry services, hundreds of vehicles were stranded at Paturia and Daulatdia ghats, triggering a three-kilometer-long tailback from Paturia ghat, he also said.

Thirteen ferries in Paturia and Daulatdia ghats were anchored to the pontoons causing acute sufferings to the passengers, the official added.
