Edu minister urges non-MPO teachers to break hunger strike

Dhaka: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Tuesday urged the teachers and employees of non-MPO (Monthly Pay Order) educational institutions for returning to their workplaces breaking their hunger strike.
The minister arrived at the Jatiya Press Club around 11:00am and took attempt to break their strike.
Nurul Islam Nahid also gave them assurance of fulfilling their demand.
He informed that Finance Minister have agreed to materialise their demand.
‘But it will take time as we have to go through the procedures,’ said the minister.
The teachers and employees of non-MPO educational institutions began fast-unto-death from Sunday morning demanding their regularisation under Monthly Pay Order (MPO) of the government.
Earlier, they went on movement under the banner of ‘non-MPO educational institution teacher-employee federation’ in front of Jatiya Press Club on December 26. Hundreds of teachers and employees from across the country joined the strike.
