142 illegal billboards removed in Chittagong

Chittagong: Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) and Chittagong district administration in cooperation with Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) removed 142 illegal billboards from different areas in the port city on Sunday night.
The eviction drive began from five separate places under city's GEC intersection, New Market, Bibirhat, Oxyzen and Agrabad commercial area at about 10:00pm last night in presence of high officials from CCC and district administrations and ended in the early hours on Monday, reports BSS.
The eviction drive led by five executive magistrates under the coordination of CCC magistrate Nazia Sherine and executive magistrate of district administration Tamim Al Yamin.
A total of 872 billboards were removed from different areas in the city during the last 25 days, said Mohammad Shofiul Alam, Chief executive of CCC.
The drive to remove billboards started again in the city after six months.
Earlier, CCC, through advertisements, urged the owners to remove their respective billboards by 31 May and continued eviction drives throughout July last year.
