Police on Monday pressed charges against the lone accused in the sensational schoolgirl Munni killing case.

Sub-inspector M Sekandar Ali of Dirai Police Station, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge-sheet against Yahiya before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate M Shahidul Amin in the afternoon.

On December 16 last, Yahiya stabbed Humayra Akhter Munni, a Class-X student of Dirai High School, to death at her residence at Madani Mahalla in Dirai municipality of Sunamganj after she refused his love proposal, reports the UNB.

On December 17, Munni’s mother filed a murder case.

Police arrested the killer from Jalalabad area of Sylhet city five days after the killing.
