Two Biswa Ijtema devotees die

Dhaka: Two devotees were died on Thursday night while coming to join at the 53rd Biswa Ijtema held on the bank of Turag River in Tongi, Gazipur.

The deceased are Quazi Azizul Haq, in his sixties, and Abdul Mamun Mona, around thirty.

‘One devotee was died of respiratory complications while another was killed in a road accident,’ said officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tongi Model Police Station Mohammad Feroz Talukder.

Quazi Azizul Haq, hailed from Harishpur village of Shalikha upazila in Magura district, felt sick due to stomach pain at 11 pm on Thursday night and then he was sent to Tongi Government Hospital immediately. He died of respiratory problems there at around 11:30pm.

His namaj-e-janaza was held on the Ijtema ground after the fazr prayer on Friday and then his body was sent to his village home.

Abdul Mamun Mona, who lived in the city’s Agargaon area, was killed in a road accident at station road area of Tongi on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at 10:30pm on Thursday night when he was on the way to Ijtema, said Feroz Talukder.
