Meherpur: A court here on Sunday sentenced Gangni municipality mayor Ashraful Islam for 10-year jail in connection with an arms case.

Meherpur Special Tribunal- 4 Judge Md Tajul Islam passed the order this afternoon while mayor Ashraful, also convener of Juba League of Gangni unit was present on the dock.

The case statement said on May 27 in 2012, a team of police on secret information conducted a drive in Ashraful’s house and recovered a pistol, three rounds of bullets from there.
