Jamaat leader held over subversion

Sylhet: Police arrested a local leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in Sobhanighat area of Sylhet on Tuesday in connection with several cases and on subversion charges, reports local news agency.
The arrestee is Yasin Khan, a leader of the Sylhet city unit Jamaat and law affairs secretary of Mohanagar Shramik Kollayan Federation, son of Jafor Ali Khan, a resident of Pailgaon village in Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj district.
Police said on secrete information a team of police led by officer-in-charge of Janagnnathpur police station Md. Mursalin and SI Mizanur Rahman conducted a drive at the area and arrested him.
The OC said Yasin was wanted in 25 cases, including for murder, police assault, and planning for subversive activities.
He had remained in hiding for a long time, the OC added.
