2nd phase Ijtema underway, one devotee dies
Gazipur: The second phase of Biswa Ijtema entered the second day on Saturday at Tongi on the outskirts of Dhaka.
The second phase of three-day Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslims after the hajj, began after Fazr prayers on Friday.
Meanwhile, Mohor Ali, a devotee hailing from Jamalpur, died at the Ijtema ground early in the morning.
His namaj-e-janaza was held after Fazr prayers.
With this, total five devotees died in the two phase of Ijtema.
Thousands of devotees, both from home and abroad, have gathered at the congregation venue, and are taking part in prayers and discussions.
Some 3917 devotees from 78 countries joined the second phase of Ijtema which will end on Sunday with the Akheri Munajat (concluding prayers).
Tabligh Jamaat has been organising the Ijtema at the venue since 1967. But, theIjtema is being held in two phases since 2011 due to accommodation and transportation problem.
