Chittagong: A police official allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from ceiling fan at his room in

Police Lines in city’s Dampara area on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Kalenjoy Chakma, 35, assistant sub inspector (ASI) of police (reserve force), resident of Dighinala Upazila in Khagrachhari.

Sheikh Mohammad Nasir Uddin, officer –in-charge of Khulshi Police station, said the handing body of Kalenjoy was recovered from his room around 10:30am and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy.

The reasons behind the suicide could not be known immediately, he added.

A case was filed.
