‘Robber’ killed in Chuadanga ‘gunfight’

Chuadanga: An alleged robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Santospur-Dehati road area of Jibannagar upazila in Chuadanga early on Wednesday.
The deceased is Iman Ali, in his twenties, a resident of Chanpur village in Sadar upazila.
Being informed that a gang of robbers was taking preparation for committing robbery in the area, a patrol team of police reached the spot, said police.
Sensing presence of police, the gang members opened fire on the law enforcers, prompting them to retaliate, triggering a ‘gunfight’ around 1:00am.
Iman, member of the inter-district robber gang, was caught in the line of fire and suffered bullet injuries.
Later, he was rushed to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Accused in three cases, including robbery, arms and bomb explosion, Iman’s involvement was found in most of the robbery incidents in the district, said
Ahsan Habib, assistant superintendent of Chuadanga Police.
