PM orders turning DMCH into modern infrastructure

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday asked the authorities concerned to take necessary steps for turning the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital an environment-friendly and modern infrastructure.
The Prime Minister came up with the instruction after witnessing a presentation of a model on the expansion and modernisation of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
The presentation was made before the Prime Minister at her office in the city.
She also asked them to give the hospital a new look by ensuring different modern facilities and sufficient open space and large veranda inside it.
Sheikh Hasina focused on ensuring good atmosphere, enough fire extinguishing equipment, and quick and safe exit during any fire incidence at the hospital.
She said her government has been working to improve the healthcare services and reach the services to the doorsteps of the common people.
For the purpose, the government established the country’s first medical university --Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University— in the capital during the 1996-2001 regime of the Awami League government, she said.
The Prime Minister said process is underway to set up two more medical universities in Chittagong and Rajshahi and the government will also establish medical universities in other divisional headquarters in phases.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim, State Minister Zahid Maleque, Principal Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Md Nojibur Rahman, Senior Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Suraiya Begum and Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim were present.
