Dhaka-Rajshahi rail link restored after 4hrs
Gazipur: Train communication of Dhaka with Rajshahi was restored after four hours of suspension as Ekata Express train went out of order and later derailed in Gazipur.
The train left Gazipur at about 1:00pm on Friday.
Earlier, an engine of the Ekata Express train went out of order at about 9:00am at Salna. A team of engineers went to the spot and repaired the engine.
The train started its journey after two and half hours of suspension but the rear wheel of the train derailed as it neared Joydebpur station area.
Railway police assistant sub-inspector Dadan Mia said Rajshahi-bound Dhumketu trapped at Joydebpur junction, Khulna-bound Sundarban Express stopped at Tongi Junction, Dhaka-bound Rangpur Express trapped at Mouchak Station, Chapai Mail stuck at Mohera station due to the derailment.
