Sylhet: A woman was slaughtered to death by his son at Kamargram village in Beanibazar upazila on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Chhoymun Bibi, 55, wife of Tahir Ali Sundor.

Chhoymun’s son Kamal Hossain, who returned home from United Arab Emirates two weeks ago, used to quarrel with his mother. He locked into altercation with his mother around 4:30pm and at one stage, he slaughtered his mother, leaving her dead on the spot, said Shahjalal Munshi, officer-in-charge of Beanibazar Police Station.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital and arrested Kamal, said the OC.

Iqbal Hossain, general secretary of Charkhai Union Awami League, said that Kamal Hossain was mentally challenged.
