Five policemen, including a sub-inspector, were closed to Jessore Police Lines on Friday night in connection with the snatching of 3,000 US dollars from a female Swedish citizen of Bangladesh origin.

The policemen facing the action include Sub-inspector Ezazur Rahman and constables Azizur Rahman, Mamun Hossain, Babar Ali and Ziaul Hasan of Jhikargachha Police Station in Jessore, said additional superintendent of police KM Ariful Haque, reported UNB.

Mizanur Rahman, husband of the victim, Khukumoni Pervin, said the five policemen searched the bag of his wife and snatched away US$3000 while Khukumoni was returning to the country from India through Benapole on Thursday afternoon.

ASP KM Ariful Haque also said the police personnel were closed on charge of setting up a check-post in the area without permission and harassing people. 

Process was underway to file a divisional case in connection with the incident, added the ASP.
