Dhaka: President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset left here on Wednesday afternoon wrapping up his four-day official visit to Bangladesh.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali saw him off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was, among others, present.

This was the first official visit by any Swiss president to Bangladesh.

The Swiss President held meetings with President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali apart from other engagements during his stay in Dhaka.

President Berset also visited Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar district and listened to stories of tortures from the Myanmar’s displaced people.
