Chittagong: Police in special drives arrested 34 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-e Islami from different upazilas of the district early on Friday.

Rezaur Masud, additional superintendent of Chittagong Police, said  police arrested one each from Sitakundo, Rangunia, Anwara, Chandanaish upazila, two each from Mirsharai and Jorarganj upazilas and three each from Raozan and Bhujpur upazilas and four from Lohagara and six from Patiya.

Among the arrestees, there were 31 BNP men and three Jamaat men, said the police official.
