Dhaka: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said there has been no failure of law enforcers in unearthing the mystery behind the murder of journalist couple Sagar-Runi.

The minister came up with the remark while replying to a query from reporters over the matter at the secretariat.

Replying to a question that how long it would take to debunk the murder mystery, the minister said ‘Our Rab force is working on it as per the High Court order. They’re working with DNA samples. I think, they’ll soon see a success.’

Maasranga Television News Editor Sagar Sarowar and his wife ATN Bangla senior reporter Meherun Runi were found dead at their rented apartment in the city’s West Razabazar area on February 11, 2012.

Replying to a query about BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s division in jail, he said, ‘We’ve taken all the necessary measures in jail considering Khaleda Zia’s social status. We heard that a directive will come from court in this regard. We’ll implement the court’s directive after receiving it.’

Asaduzzaman Khan said special security measures will be taken across the country marking the International Mother Language Day on February 21.

Additional forces will be deployed from the night of February 20 while central Shaheed Minar, Dhaka University and Nilkhet area will be brought under the purview of CCTV camera, he said.

‘No car without sticker will be allowed inside Dhaka University and Nilkhet areas after the evening of February 20. Detectives will be kept on alert to fend off any kind of unwanted situation,’ he said.
