2 robbers caught red handed in Patuakhali

Patuakhali: Angry mobs caught two robbers red handed while committing robbery at a jewellery shop in Galachipa municipality of the district on Saturday night.

The arrestees are Kibria of Krishnanagar village in Bakerganj upazila and Amir Hamza of Guilasakhali village in Mathbaria.

Police and eyewitness said a group of robbers entered into Ma Shorno Shilpa jewellery introducing themselves as customers around 9:00pm. Soon after entering, they started robbing of gold ornaments at gun point.

Hearing the screaming, local people rushed in and caught two members of robber’s gang red handed while others managed to flee the spot.

Later, the angry mobs gave them a good thrashing and informed police.

On information, police rushed in and arrested the two robbers.

During primary interrogation, the robbers confessed their involvement in robbery for long and disclosed names of three other members—Jahangir, Kamal Hossain and Anwar Hossain of Bakerganj.

Police also recovered a pistol, 15 crude bombs and a motorcycle from the spot, said Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Golachipa Police Station.
