Five to die for killing in Chandpur
Chandpur: A Chandpur court on Tuesday sentenced five men to death for killing a young man in 2008.
The convicts are Mohammad Yamin Bepari, in his twenties, Dakkhin Lodhua village of Matlab Uttar upazila, Mohammad Selim Majhi, around twenty years old, of the same village, Mohammad Abdul Khalek Mollah, in his thirties, of Paschim Ladhua village, Md Faruk alias Nabi, around 25 years old, and Md Ali Munshi, in his twenties, of the same village.
Additional district and Sessions Judge Mamunur Rashid handed down the verdict after examine the all witnesses and records of the murder case, said Advocate Shayedul Islam Babu public prosecutor of the case.
According to the case statement, the convicts killed Md Masud Rana, in his twenties, of Dakkhin Rari village of the upazila, by strangulated him on October, 5, 2008, over previous enmity.
Later the victim’s father filed a murder case with Matlab Uttar Police Station accusing eight people.
Police submitted charge sheet to the court on May 30, 2009.
After examining the 15 witnesses among 34 and all records the Additional district and Sessions Judge handed down the verdict.
The court also acquitted three other accused from the charge.
