Comilla: A retired army person was gunned down by some unknown assailants at Dhanuakhola village in Sadar upazila early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Mobarak Hossain, 60, son of late Abdul Jalil of the village.

Police and locals said Mobarak had dispute with some local people over his business. After getting a call from someone around 2:00 am he locked the door.

When he opened the door, miscreants fired several rounds of bullets at him, leaving him injured.

He was taken to Comilla Combined Military Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said Inspector Mahmudul Hasan Rubel, in-charge of Moynamati Cantonment police outpost.
