BNP to pay homage to slain army officers Sunday
A BNP delegation on Sunday will pay homage to the army officers killed in the Pilkhana BDR carnage in 2009 by placing wreaths at their graves.
The BNP delegation, comprising its senior leaders, will go to Banani Military Graveyard around 10:30am and place wreaths at the graves of the slain army officers, said BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan on Saturday, reports the UNB.
They will also offer fateha there followed by a munajat seeking salvation of the departed souls of those killed in the incident, he added.
On this day in 2009, several hundred BDR, now renamed BGB, members took up arms against their superiors at the Pilkhana Darbar Hall and killed 74 people, including then BDR chief Maj Gen Shakil Ahmed and 56 other army officers.
The nation with a heavy heart will observe the 9th anniversary of the atrocious carnage at Pilkhana in the capital.
Floral wreaths will be placed at the graves of the army officers, who were killed during the BDR carnage, at the Banani Military Graveyard at 9am by the President, the Prime Minister, minsters, officials and politicians and relatives of the victims.
