Chittagong: Police arrested the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Chittagong city unit leader Sudipta Biswas from Muradpur area in the port city on Wednesday night.

The arrestee was identified as Rubel De Prakash Chakma, a student of English Department of Chittagong University (CU) and also an activist of BCL, said Nizam Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadarghat Police Station, on Thursday.

‘Rubel has admitted his involvement in the murder and also disclosed the name of other associates,’ the OC added.

On October 6, 2017, Sudipta Biswas, 26, son of Babul Biswas of Sadarghat area and assistant general secretary of BCL city unit, was beaten to death by miscreants in Dakkhin Nalapara area of the city.

So far, police have arrested 5 BCL activists in this connection.
