Pabna: A local Jubo Dal leader was chopped to death by miscreants at Nechrapara in Faridpur upazila on Wednesday evening.

The victim, Saiful Islam Liton, 40, was the convener of upazila unit of Jubo Dal, the youth wing of BNP, and son of late Golzar Hossain of Savar village in the upazila.

Officer-in-charge of Faridpur Police Station Habibur Rahman said a group of miscreants swooped on Liton around 7pm as soon as he stepped out of his house to go to a local bazaar.

The attackers hacked him indiscriminately with lethal weapons, leaving him injured.

The Jubo Dal leader was taken to upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead, the OC said.

However, the reason behind the killing was yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, upazila BNP president Zahurul Islam Baku demanded immediate arrest of the killers.
