Biometric database of RMG workers to be prepared: minister

Dhaka: State Minister for Labour and Employment Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu on Wednesday told Parliament that the government has a plan to prepare a biometric database of readymade garment workers.
‘Some 35 lakh people are working in the export-oriented readymade garment factories. The government has a plan to prepare a biometric worker database for knowing the exact number of the factory workers and ensuring security for them,’ he said.
He said this relying to a starred question from Awami League lawmaker Momotaz Begom (Manikganj-2).
The junior minister also informed the House that the government has already published a database of 4604 export-oriented factories at www.dife.gov.bd.
