Gaibandha:  A man was run over by a truck on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in front of the ‘Hanif Paribahan’ bus counter in Gobindaganj upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased is Bijoy Sarker, a local book trader.

Police said the accident took place when the Rangpur-bound truck hit him on the highway when he was walking on the road around 8.00am, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police seized the truck but its driver and helper fled away.

Gobindoganj highway police officer-in-charge Masud Parvej confirmed the incident.
