Sunamganj: The local administration has imposed section 144 at Bhatipara village field in Diraiupazila of Sunamganj on Thursday as two Islamic organisations have declared to arrange separate programmes at the same venue and time on the same day.

The authorities concerned of Ibrahim Shan Shrine had earlier announced that they will hold an Urs, religious gathering, at Bhatipara village field on Thursday.

Besides, anti-Islam activities prevention committee called a programme protesting arrangements of the gathering and submitted a memorandum to the local administration over the issue, creating tensions in the area.

Apprehending trouble, the local administration has imposed the emergency section apparently to maintain law and order as two groups did not reach any consensus, said Mostafa Kamal, officer-in-charge of Dirai Police Station.
