Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday greeted Vladimir Putin for his re-election as Russia’s President.
‘It gives me immense pleasure in congratulating you for your re-election and for once again assuming the leadership of the Russian Federation,’ she said in a message of felicitation adding that Russia was enjoying continued stability, peace, progress and prosperity under his dynamic leadership, reports the BSS.
She expressed her confidence that Putin’s political wisdom and acumen would ‘lead you to further success for the Russian Federation and its people’. 
Sheikh Hasina said described Russia as a trusted historic friend of Bangladesh while the friendship become further strengthened over the years and expressed her confidence that the bilateral relations would flourish even further under Putin’s leadership. 
‘I am pleased to note that our time-tested bilateral relations reached a new height through interactions at the highest political level, beginning with the historic visit of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the USSR in April 1972 and my subsequent visits to your great country in 2010 and 2013,’ she said.
‘People of Bangladesh always consider you as a trusted friend of Bangladesh and thank you for your personal engagement to participate and assist in the development efforts of Bangladesh,’ she said. 
The premier invited the Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit Bangladesh at an earliest convenience.
