Dhaka: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested four people, including the alleged mastermind, over the murder of an elderly Garo woman and her daughter in Kalachandpur area of Dhaka.

Tipped off, a team of RAB-1 conducted a drive in Nalitabai upazila of Sherpur around 6:00pm on Wednesday and arrested the four suspects, including ‘mastermind’ Sanjib Chiran, said sources at the RAB headquarters.

On Tuesday night, police recovered the bodies of Besat Moni Chiran, in her sixties, and her daughter Sujata Chiran, in her forties, from the 4^th floor of a multi-storey building in the area.

Of them, Sujata was slaughtered and Besnat Moni was strangled, police said.

On Wednesday, Besat Moni’s husband Ashish Mankin filed a case with the Gulshan Police Station over the murder.

The law enforcers also collected the footage from the CCTV camera of the building where they found four youths, including

Sanjib, son of Sujata’s sister, entering the flat on Tuesday afternoon.
