Kushtia: A cattle trader was hacked to death by unknown assailants at Moubaria village in Doulatpur upazila on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Enamul Kazi, 45, son of Shamsher Kazi of the village.

Police and locals said unknown miscreants stabbed Enamul with sharp weapons while he was taking tea at a tea stall near his home around 11:00 pm, leaving him dead on the spot.

Enamul might have been killed by his rivals following previous enmity over a piece of land, said Shah Dara Khan, officer-in-charge of Doulatpur Police Station.

Police detained some people from Friday night to Saturday morning for interrogation.
