A student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) was hacked to death by miscreants in Keane bridge area of Sylhet early on Monday.

The deceased is Mehedi Al Salam, a masters student of Economics Department and a resident of Medina Market area. He was an activist of Gonojagoron Mancha.

Miscreants stabbed Mehedi indiscriminately at Keane bridge area on his way to Kadamtoli bus stand for going to Dhaka around 1:00am, leaving him seriously injured, said Ripon, Sub- Inspector of South Surma Police Station.

On information, police rushed in and sent him to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
